Using this Toolkit

Lead Educators can use this Toolkit to generate custom, localised Placement Planning Tools for Trainee GPs and their Supervisors. These tools are easy to generate using simple data entry forms, which then collate colour-coded, interactive webpages which can be shared and downloaded as interactive PDF documents.

The tools include introductory information pages and a categorised list of opportunities in the local area. Formatting and links are all automatically generated by the system to ensure a quality, accessible product is generated in every instance. Lead Educators can instantly update information about any organisation or opportunity, at any time.

Step 1: Add your Placement Opportunities

Use the simple online form to create a short profile of each organisation you work with, and the placement opportunity they offer to Trainee GPs.

Each opportunity will be displayed in the Placement Planning Tool as a single page with contact details, lists of benefits for trainees, and barriers/solutions to engaging with that opportunity.

The system will automatically generate two versions of the opportunity page - one for Trainee GPs, and one for their Supervisors.

Step 2: Add your Introductory Pages

Information pages about the RCGP Capabilities and the NHS Plan are included by default in your Planning Tool - you don't necessarily need to add any additional introductory pages.

Some GP Training Programmes choose to add additional pages with information about their local programme. These can be added using a simple data entry form, and will be attractively formatted into columns with headings which you can edit as needed.

When you compile your tool, you can choose which of these pages is visible to trainees and/or to supervisors.

Step 3: Compile your Placement Planning Tool

A short form of tickboxes you to select the introductory pages and placement opportunities you would like to include in your final planning tool document. The system will automatically compile these into two multi-page documents - one for trainees, and one for supervisors, both with easy point-and-click navigation.

You can then share these documents online, or via a downloadable PDF.
